The YSL Sample Sale ended Friday on a bang with further markdowns. Although, I was unable to attend the last day, I did venture out of my comfort zone and brave it through the opening day. Being at a premier designer sample sale is seriously no joke. Even waking up and hoping to stand on line 2 hours prior to designated opening time, there were at least a hundred people there waiting since 3am (as I have heard). Now, I was fortunate enough that somehow, someway, I ended up being approximately 40th in line, which means I was able to be one of the first batch of people to go in and act like a "vulture." Nevertheless, I did have a wonderful time despite the 2 hour wait and I grabbed a bunch of goodies that I absolutely adore.
Now, there are quite some lessons to be learned from this sample sale. Unlike many others, there is a small amount of inventory available to the public. Although people were limited to 5 bags, people still had 10 on their arms. You really have to be the first batch of 50 people to really get the good stuff. Some of the famous YSL bags I saw were Downtowns (mainly in patent black), Muse II Cabas tote (studded, grey with tan lining, black, black with white lining), YSL mini crossbody in patent purple, YSL logo leather tote, YSL easy in small size (patent black, patent tan), and some other random unknown YSL handbags. These goodies were pretty much gone by the time I left. If you are not the first batch of 50 people in, it gets rather complicated. For every one person that leaves, one person on line can go in, which means that if the initial batch of "vultures" did not leave in 4 hours, you will be waiting for 4+ hours.

Now the question is: Will I actually go to another one? Maybe. It was definitely worth the wait. However, if I was not one of the first to get into the actual sample sale, then NO. I would probably have left empty handed.
Despite everything ( money spent, time lost, etc), I had a wonderful time and perhaps (?) I will attend the next one. After all, my birthday is coming up, and with all the commotion and emotional (un) well being of my soul that I'll be officially hitting my late 20s, I might as well go all out. Besides, how many more years will I be able to wake up at 5am to do this.
Thank you for posting the YSL Sample Sale event you attended. I am looking to attend the next YSL Sample Sale, do you have any information on the upcoming one? I hope to hear from you soon.
